The Effects of Ageing

A life lived to the fullest will eventually leave its marks on our faces and necks in the form of lines and wrinkles, reduced muscle tone of the facial muscles, and thinning or sagging skin in certain areas. From ‘frown’ lines on the forehead, to ‘crows’ feet’ around the eyes, to ‘smokers’ lines’ around the lips, these can be caused by facial expressions repeated over many years, but also by sun damage and lifestyle habits such as smoking, the use of sunbeds or a lack of hydration, collectively contributing to our skin showing the signs of aging.

We all have a different idea of what beauty is, and that is why I offer a free consultation prior to treatment – to discuss which areas you would like to address, how you feel you would like to enhance your features, taking into account the effects of treatments in the short term as well as over a longer period of time.

Injectable Cosmetic Fillers

The ageing process means that our skin loses substances like collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, but also subcutaneous fat and muscle tone. Increased dryness and thinning of the skin contribute towards the formation of lines, wrinkles and unwanted folds.

Dermal fillers are minimally invasive treatments to address these areas for cosmetic purposes. They are made from hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that absorbs moisture and keeps skin hydrated. Injected into the soft tissue of the face, dermal fillers can help temporarily minimise the signs of ageing by softening the appearance of lines and wrinkles, adding fullness to areas that have thinned

due to the ageing process. By adding volume and plumping up the skin in the affected areas, the result is a gentle and natural resculpting of the face.

Which areas can be treated?

Areas that can be revitalised by dermal fillers include the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth. For example:

– Nasolabial folds that run from the side of the nose down towards the mouth, also known as the ‘laughter’ lines. These can be gently softened by dermal fillers.

– Marionette lines are the vertical lines running from the corner of the mouth down to the chin.

– Lips – dermal fillers can subtly plump up the volume of the lips, enhancing their shape, or helping create symmetry.

– Cheeks tends to lose volume and shape due to the ageing process, especially in those who participate in lots of running and high impact exercise. Fillers can help add volume and restore a more youthful appearance.

– Scars following acne may also be tackled with dermal fillers where appropriate.

To achieve a subtle, natural look, a smaller number of areas is treated – a prior consultation is required to discuss the suitability of each treatm

A no-commitment chat to discuss your needs, concerns and expectations, along with various treatment options available and their suitability for you. Please be aware that certain treatments may not be suitable for you. We will not sell you a product, or administer a treatment, that is not suitable for you.

You have to be over 21 to be able to have a facial aesthetic treatment.

Please note that all treatments are non-permanent – treatments can temporarily help reduce signs of ageing, and can last approximately 4 to 6 months.

How long does it take for the treatment to take effect?

Dermal fillers usually start working straight away after treatment.

Please note that the results are temporary – this is because hyaluronic acid is eventually absorbed by the body and naturally broken down.

However, this process lasts a few months, so the expected effect of the dermal fillers is around 4 to 6 months.

This can vary for each client and depends on a variety of factors such as:

* The area being treated

* The health of the skin

* The type and volume of the filler

* Your physical activity level and lifestyle after treatment.
